Q: Will getting a higher power generator hurt the electrical system in my car?

A: Not really. The charge rate is controlled automatically by the built-in voltage stabiliser. Your alternator can only give you the current that your power load and battery level need. It won't hurt your battery or gadgets that are easily damaged.

Q: When I put in a high power alternator, do I need to improve my wiring?

A: Most of the time, yes. For the "Big 3" update, bigger gauge wire (usually 0 or 2 AWG) is needed for the following connections: battery positive to generator, battery negative to chassis, and engine block to chassis. This stops heat and power drops caused by resistance that slow things down.

Q: What is the difference between peak output and idle output?

A: The highest power (150A in our case) happens at high RPM, which is around 6,000 RPM for the alternator. Low power when the motor is not running, usually 60–80A based on the pulley ratio. We made sure that high-quality units like ours have good idle performance to handle energy loads when they are running at low speeds.
